Green Finance Connect

Serving as a pioneer to promote Green Finance in Hong Kong, FoE (HK) is going to organise a Green Finance Forum titled "Green Finance Connect” on 8 July. The forum will feature our upcoming Green Finance road map in Hong Kong, a sharing session from industry practitioners and a panel discussion about the future of ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance).

The 32nd Annual General Meeting

FoE (HK) has held its 32nd Annual General Meeting on 28 June 2019. Delivering her speech, Mrs. Mei Ng, BBS, Chairperson of FoE (HK) denoted that Hong Kong had experienced a devastating influence by Typhoon Mangkhut and extreme weather conditions last year but while natural resources were hugely destructed, the importance of a mutual respect between human beings and the natural environment was well-delivered. She hoped that with promoting green finance and circular economy, FoE (HK) shall combat climate change and march forward to create a greener future with Hong Kong.

Plastic Free Fun Fair

FoE (HK) participated in the event "World Environment Day x World Oceans Day – Plastic Free Fun Fair” held by Environment Campaign Committee in Tai Kwun on 9 Jun. We aimed to raise public awareness of textile waste by introducing ocean crisis caused by microfibers, including the impacts on human beings when microfibers passed up the food chain. Also, we provided the actionable solution, to encourage the use of clothes made by natural fibers and to reduce plastic from entering the ocean.

Municipal Solid Waste Audit and Waste Reduction at School

Took place in eight schools, the ECF-sponsored "Municipal Solid Waste Audit and Waste Reduction at School” scheme has successfully ended. The scheme aims to audit the waste and recyclables generated and to promote waste reduction, reuse and recycling, while helping schools to prepare for the MSW Charging Scheme in the future. According to the audit results, the average waste reduction of the participating schools from December 2018 to March 2019 is 13%, which is higher than the 5% target. Although the programme has ended, we hope all participants will remember and spread out the green living messages of reducing waste at source and clean recycling.
