Bring Your Own
Bottle to Orientation Camp!
|
|
FoE (HK) found that
more than half of the tertiary students in Hong Kong consumed at
least three packaged drinks during their orientation camps (O
camps). However, only 25 percent of students would recycle their
plastic bottles. With around 400 3-day-2-night O camps held each
year, it is estimated that these camps generate 120,000
disposable drink packages in total every year!
We strongly encourage all tertiary students to sign an online
petition to support the “Bring Your Own Bottle” campaign to
reduce disposable drink packages. If you would like to implement
more green ideas in your orientation camp, feel free to sign up
for the "Green! O Camp Competition". The 5 greenest and
most innovative camps will each receive a HK$3,000 subsidy!
Please visit www.foe.org.hk/GOC for further details.

Building Energy
Utilization Index (EUI) Platform
|
|
Buildings take up
90% of electricity demand in Hong Kong. Commercial buildings are
required to conduct energy audit every 10 years and display the
EUI data in the buildings' common area to fulfill the legal
compliance. However, the current system is inconvenient to access
and not up-to-date. As a result, FoE (HK) launched a platform in
May and invited building owners to submit their latest EUI, which
will be displayed in our platform (http://bit.ly/1ItyJ00) for easy public access.
The EUI platform is a new element of this year’s Power Smart
Energy Saving Contest (www.foe.org.hk/ps). It aims to promote energy conservation in
commercial buildings.
Currently, the platform shows EUI data of over 50 buildings, and
we are looking forward to seeing more developers participating to
enrich our platform.

Project with
LANEIGE has been encouraging!
|
|
FoE (HK) is
partnering with LANEIGE, the brand under Amorepacific, from 5
March to 4 September. For every single transaction where
customers bring their own shopping bags, LANEIGE will donate HK$1
to FoE.
Until June, the amount of donation has exceeded 270% of the
original target. FoE (HK) is thankful for LANEIGE’s support and
encouraged by the result so far. We hope customers can continue
to be considerate to the environment when going shopping.
